Pre Diabetes
Hi, I got the HBA1C test done today for my mom who is 58 yrs old and the result is 6.22% which falls in the pre diabetic range. Should i now see a diabetes specialist or should she continue with her diet and 30 mins walk every day.Is there anything in particular that can be done to ensure she doesn't enter the diabetes range

She should consult a doctor  who will take her history in detail, review all her reports and decide on a treatment plan. At her current HbA1c level, life style modifications which include diet changes, efficient stress management and a regular exercise routine should suffice. You can monitor the effect that these changes have had by repeating glucose levels after 3 months.
