Hello Doctor, we visited you for my mom's neck pain and you had prescribed physiotherapy with neck exercises with ultrasound and SWD. The therapist also recommended traction. Should we do traction also?

Hi,
Greetings,
Based on the age of the patient and severity of the pain with nerve impingement. Surely you can go for Traction. Traction itself we have many Technic, please approach with Physiotherapist they will help you.
Hello.., if the pain is radiating down to arms n hands or tingling numbness is there, then take traction or else continue with more of
neck core
Neck isometric
Shoulder girdle strengthening exercises
Avoid forward bending of neck strictly
Tc..
If it's necessary, better get it done. You need to assess her bone density, if bones are osteoporotic; it's not advisable to go for traction and based on the severity of pain and problem, mostly an experienced physiotherapist can easily do this job.
Next Steps
maintain physiotherapy chart for how many days of traction, mode, duration etc
