Physiotherapy for meniscus tear
I tore my posterior horn of medial meniscus few days ago (Grade 3). My doctor recommended physiotherapy after clinical inspection. My understanding for doing physiotherapy is making the muscles around the hips, quads, hamstring etc stronger so that there wouldn't be much stress to the torn meniscus. But once we stop doing physiotherapy, won't the muscles become weaker again? As we are not training them and this in turn would cause the pain to come back. Can someone let me know how physiotherapy performs in the long run?

Start with antiinflamtory and knee brace for 10-15 days and over the time if pain subsides it's well and good otherwise u need to go for operative procedure and I don't think physiotherapy has any role more thn muscle strengthening

😊 good question . PHYSIOTHERPY IS TO BUILD MUSCLE STRENGTHNING AROUND YOUR KNEES WHAT YOU SAID IS CORRECT. BUT THIS IS INCORRECT THAT YOU STOP PHYSIO AND IT WILL BECOME WEAK AGAIN. WEAKNESS OCCUR ONLY IF YOU HAVE NOT DONE PHYSIOTHERPY PROPERLY  OR  YOU HAVE EXTREMELY SENDENTRY LIFESTYLE , WEIGHT GAIN OR  DUE TO SOME INJURY NOT ABLE TO MOVE LEG OR KNEE JOINT . THEN ONLY YOUR MUSCLE WILL LOOSE STRENGTH . AS YOU HAVE   MENTIONED  YOUR AGE 24 - QUITE YOUNG CHAP  WHY YOU SHOULD BE HAVING WEAK MUSCLE AFTER PHYSIOTHERAPY. AND ITS GRADE 3   AND THAT TO MEDIAL MENISCUS ITS IN MAXIMUM  WEIGHT BEARING JOINT AREA IN KNEE JOINT . IF PAIN DID NOT REDUCED OR MOBILITY DID NOT IMPROVE AFTER PHYSIOTHERAPY THEN  YOU MIGHT REQUIRE ARTHROSCOPY MENISCUS REPAIR-  IF REPAIRABLE OR PARTIAL MENISECTOMY.
