Pain while RCT procedure is common in case of infections, there’s a good chance that it won’t be as painful as it was before. Many patients metabolise anaesthesia at a higher rate which could lead to your anaesthesia wearing off at a faster rate.

Hello sir, Infections create an acidic environment and pus, reducing local anesthetic effectiveness. Antibiotics are often prescribed to reduce the infection and improve anesthesia efficacy before the procedure. Your next appointments will be less painful compared to the previous one. Do complete the treatment without fear.

Hello Pain during RCT is mostly due to more infection and using the antibiotics will decrease the infection Please don’t miss the appointments as it will further increase the infection

Hello...I understand that RCT can be extremely painful if the anaesthesia doesn't work...But it happens sometimes when it's a chronic or a severe infection..it's always better to start the prescribed antibiotics and anti inflammatory medications as these will take care of infection and there will be increased probability of the anaesthesia to work for you..But don't let this experience bother you too much as it happens in few cases only..
Next Steps
keep continuing your rct sittings as leaving an incomplete RCT will cause bigger problems in future and reduce the chances of saving your precious tooth..

Hii! Sorry about the pain. Actually when you have an infected tooth then anaesthesia doesn’t work sp only the doctor had to repeat it thrice. Nothing to worry about. You should not miss the next appointment because there won’t be any pain now as the infected portion would have been removed in the first sitting itslef. Don’t miss your appointment as it can lead to further infection and pain.
Next Steps
Please visit your doctor as per the scheduled appointment

I understand your concerns, and I’m sorry to hear that your first RCT was painful. Root canal treatments (RCT) can sometimes be more painful if the infection is deep, the tooth is sensitive, or there are complications during the procedure. While anesthesia is administered to numb the area, in some cases, multiple doses may be necessary to ensure complete numbness. Intraligamentary anesthesia (intralig) is often used in such cases to provide additional numbing for the surrounding ligaments.
Next Steps
For your upcoming RCT, I recommend you: 1. Inform your dentist : if you're feeling anxious or if there was pain during the previous procedure. They may adjust the approach for more comfort. 2. Avoid eating a heavy meal: right before the appointment, but don't attend on an empty stomach either. 3. Take your prescribed medications: (acetaminophen, pand) as directed. These help manage pain and inflammation. 4. Stay hydrated, but avoid caffeine before the procedure, as it can increase anxiety. 5. Relaxation techniques such as deep breathing can help manage any anxiety.
Health Tips
If you experience any discomfort, don’t hesitate to inform the dentist, as they may adjust the anesthesia or approach to minimize discomfort. Good luck with your second RCT, and I hope the procedure is much smoother for you!

Hi, In some patient, the anesthesia may not work that efficiently when there is a lot of infection. Your second sitting of root canal treatment will not be like the first sitting.
