Care AI Shimmer
Pain on swallowing with body aches from yesterday is almost always acute pharyngitis, usually viral at your age. Warm saline gargles three to four times a day, warm fluids, plain paracetamol for the pain and fever, and avoid cold drinks and smoking for a few days. Antibiotics are not needed unless I see white patches on the tonsils, high fever with chills, or swollen neck glands - that pattern is bacterial and needs a prescription.
Next Steps
Gargle and paracetamol for the next 48 hours. If you cannot swallow even water, develop difficulty breathing, drooling or a fever above 102F, that is an emergency - go in the same day. Not settling in 3 days? Book a consult with me on Practo and I will examine the throat and prescribe accordingly.
