Post infection arthritis is some times inevitable and needs to be dealt very potently. Plz continue medication as suggested. It may take good amount of time.

Chikunguyna and some viral illnesses affect joints and the pain takes many months sometimes to get better. If he does not have any fever and is not having pain when resting, then he should take pain killers for a bit longer. Ideally he should be taking Paracetamol 1gram 4 times a day, Ibuprofen 400mg 3 times a day after food. He should continue this for atleast 4-6 weeks. Also ice pack can be used on the knee. If the knee is still painful after this, then he will probably need MRI scan to see what is happening in the knee. Hope this helps.
