Medicine can help you to reduce pain.
Neck exercises will help you to strengthen your muscles and ligaments and in turn will help you to reduce degenerative changes.
For osteophytes we cant do anything . We can only avoid further formation & degeneration of cervical spine. Avoid taking too much calcium tablets or pain killers. Nothing can reduce osteophytes. If orthopaedic surgeon says to do surgery then take 2 -3 consultation. But physiotherapy will definitely helpfull if u follow 15-30days , wear a collar , apply hot water bag fermentation/ cold frequently every 2-3hrs once in a day. Apply deep heat cream . Once pain subsides then start neck strengthening exercises. Thank you.DR.ANDREW JAYA SINGH senior physiotherapist porur Chennai
