A year back My mom had a ligament fracture in one of her knees. After that till she is unable to recover from her knee pain. After some months both of her knees started paining. When she went for checkup she was said to be having Osteo Arthritis. Now she is under medication but it is doing no good. She can hardly stand or walk properly. What should be done? Knee replacement surgery, is that the only and best alternative??

If the symptoms are bad and simple measures like regular painkillers and physiotherapy have not helped, and if the symptoms are getting bad then joint replacement is the only option.
