Hi, Im 23 years old and I’ve had this growth on the inside of my lip for at least 7 years. It doesn’t hurt and usually it doesn’t get in the way of anything. I normally don’t think about it but recently a dentist told me that I should get it checked out. I just wanted to know based on how long I’ve had it, what do you think is the likelihood that’s its actually oral cancer? If it were, wouldn’t I have had other symptoms a long time ago? I don’t smoke regularly either.

Cancer cannot be diagnosed like this. It needs proper examination and biopsy. This may not be cancer. It could be a small cyst. Consult a good oral surgeon and follow their advice
Hello. Thorough examination of the swelling is necessary. Wheather that swelling gradually increasing or not? Don't directly jump to cancer. Many other pathological chances are there.
