Oily acne open pores skin
Hello Doctor, I have very oily, acne-prone skin with enlarged/open pores. My acne is better than before, but I still have persistent blackheads, whiteheads, and occasional pimples. My face becomes oily within a few hours of washing, especially in the T-zone. I am currently using a 2% salicylic acid serum and a glycolic acid toner, but I’m not sure if they are suitable for my skin or if I’m using them correctly. I would like guidance on the best face wash, moisturizer, sunscreen, and a complete skincare routine. Please also let me know if I need any prescription treatment to control my oily skin, clogged pores, and prevent future acne.

Oil control face wash or salicylic acid face wash is ok to use. Non comedonal moisturizer is ok to use. Matt based or silicone based or gel based sunscreen is ok to follow Kindly consult for better diagnosis and management

Your current routine is on the right track — salicylic acid for pores and glycolic acid for texture are both good choices. For oily skin: use a gentle foaming or gel face wash (CeraVe Foaming or Minimalist AHA BHA), a niacinamide serum (10%) to control oil and shrink pores, and a water-based non-comedogenic moisturiser. Don't skip moisturiser — dry skin makes oil worse. Use a gel sunscreen (Minimalist SPF 50).
Next Steps
If blackheads/whiteheads persist despite this, a prescription adapalene 0.1% gel at night works well for comedonal acne. Consult me on Practo for a prescription and personalised routine review.

Please do not worry. Effective treatment options are available; however, management depends on the severity and extent of the condition. A detailed medical history is essential for appropriate evaluation and treatment planning. Kindly schedule an online consultation with a dermatologist for a comprehensive assessment, prescription, and further guidance.”
