NT scan and Nipt
I'm 37 years old, in the 14th week of pregnancy. I am pre diabetic with fasting sugar value of 95. I convinced via IUI. This is my first pregnancy. I had my first trimester screening last week and got the results today. - NT Scan neck fluid level is 1.6 - NIPT result shows high risk of T21 trisomy - (Beta HCG value - 0.30 MOM; PAPPA value - 0.38 MOM) -- high risk for T18 - High risk for preeclampsia - Recommended to take amino synthesis test to rule out abnormality. *Questions:* 1. NT Scan fluid level is less but NIPT shows high risk of T21. The nasal bone is formed properly. Circulation was good, baby's length was 6.85. Ultrasound was perfectly fine. Can this mean false positive? - Beta HCG/PAPPA value indicates high risk for T18 according to the diagnostic center. This seems confusing as NIPT has ruled out T13 and T18 trisomy. Requesting you to kindly clarify on these points. Is my baby having down syndrome?

N I p t has a sensitivity of 99% You need a diagnostic test which would be  aminocentesis The ultrasound tells about the structural well being where as the nipt or a minocentesis confirms mental welll being these are two separate tests

No point in discussing the limitations of each parameter. The bottom line is that when there is doubt after Double marker we go for NIPT or Amniocentesis.
