Not able to sleep properly
Dear sir/maam, I sleep at between 9:30-10 pm but I wake up someday at 4 am, someday at 3:30 am, someday at 2 am, someday at 1 am, someday at 12:30 am and after that I am not able to sleep again. I want to sleep 7 hrs that is I want to wake up at 5 am. But due to early wake up my sleep is not happening properly. I do running every morning for 30 mins. Like every person I also have sexual desire but I control it. I am bachelor. I don't do master bate. I don't watch pornography. I never had sex with any girl. Can this controlling of sexual desire affects my sleep? Please tell me why I am waking up at middle of night and how can I solve this problem?

Hi! There could be multiple reasons for sleep disturbances. Are you going through something stressful in life? It is good to know that you go for a run. Physical exercise can help you get a better sleep. I'd recommend you follow a few things (called sleep hygiene).. try sleeping sleeping and waking up at same time daily. Even if you haven't had enough sleep on the previous night, avoid sleeping in day time and sleep at your regular time. Don't go to bed unless you are sleepy. Try reading something (not on a electronic device) before sleeping. Avoid tea/coffee/tobacco/screen time before sleeping. Instead, having milk could help you sleep better. Those are few tips to get a good sleep. Feel free to contact me or any other psychiatrist if the problem persists. Having sexual desires is absolutely normal and masturbation is, in a way, what we call "releasing the sexual energy". Unless it is excessive or like a compulsion, we would not call it harmful.
