With history, it would be difficult to understand whats happening, probably we have to examine and do some tests to see whats happening

Weight gain itself can alter the hormonal levels and it can cause irregular cycles So in order to have a regular cycle Lifestyle modification Weight loss of 5–10% can restore ovulation Regular exercise (30–45 min/day) Low glycemic index diet

Hello As per history missed periods & sudden weight gain  at 18 yrs  of age suggestive of Hormonal  imbalance, as you said  no PCOS ( no documents) but in pcos few may  have clinical symptoms only  , few may have ultrasound  positive findings, few May have   Abnormal Hormonal  findings & some May  have  combination of all. So  get your  Thyroid profile,  serum prolectin level done with Ultrasound  pelvis  to roule out  PCOS .
Next Steps
If UPT NEGATIVE,   you can take  medicine  for menstruation.
Health Tips
Life style  modification,  gradual weight  reduction  , healthy diet  , sleep hygiene, yoga  ,pranayam  , & physical exercise will  help. with all investigation  please visit  to your  gynecologist. or connect  for consultation .
