Hi, your negative thoughts show what you are 'focusing 'on. May be you have unfulfilled expectations and feel that you have not been able to achieve much in life. You need to be able to shift your focus from these things to things that are actually working in your life. Once you have broken this negative cycle , you can make lifestyle changes and look forward to achieving all that you seem to want to. Do lead a healthy lifestyle. Exercise regularly, eat healthy, sleep adequately. It is not wrong to get such thoughts , but getting overwhelmed by them you may not be able to achieve much or even enjoy life. In case you are not able to handle this on your own, do seek professional help from a Psychiatrist or Psychologist. Hope this helps, All the Best!

Hello, negative thoughts can occur at any specific time in life after a significant life event like retirement, exam pressure, failure etc. However if the period is most of the time of the day and it lasts continuously for two weeks we can start looking at the phenomenon in terms of a disorder like adjustment disorder, depression etc. In first situation, best approach is to bring about resolution of the ongoing stress. In second situation clinical approach is required either through serotonin booster medicines or psychotherapy.
Next Steps
talk to a clinical psychologist or psychiatrist
