your symptoms are correlating with cervical radiculopathy. possibility of nerve compression is high. better to see a orthopedician followed by a good physiotherapist. cervical and upper back muscles needs to be corrected and strengthened. postural correction is also required.

There are lot of things to be considered before we can advise upon, such as HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN EXPERIENCING THIS PHENOMENON, WHAT ARE THE FACTORS BY WHICH YOU FEEL RELAXED AND WHAT FACTORS MAKE IT WORSEN. Most probably seeing your age, seems kind of work related pain / posture related pain. Try these and let us know if it helped or not. 1. Change your pillow (TO A LOWER HEIGHT / SOFT / SHOULD SUPPORT ONLY NECK REGION (you can also roll a tower or an over sheet)) 2. Don't move your head unnecessarily. 3. Try for 30 seconds rest/ lie down on a cylindrical cushion. (cushion should be aligned to your spine parallelly). 4. Don't work on screens which require you to bend your neck.
Next Steps
Try the steps given and if it benefits it definitely is a postural problem. Seek urgent consultation from nearest Occupational Therapist / Workspace ergonomist / physiotherapist (in order of priority) and also arrange a workplace visit that might be causing the trouble.
Health Tips
Seek professional advice before self medicating balm / oil and follow the directions carefully. A Warm water bath may also provide a little relief. STAY HEALTHY

The neck pain may be work related or even postural...sleeping postures can even cause the neck pain...I would suggest to make changes in the pillow and the mattress...also do consult a good orthopaedician followed by a physiotherapist who would suggest u cervical muscles stretching and strengthening exercises in the appropriate way and also give ergonoimic advice regarding the posture at home and work...hope this can help you..
