You are entitled to a second opinion. However, a better insight into your problem can be obtained only on examination. The charges will depend on the extent of your problem and the type of braces chosen. Anurag Mahale, Consultant Orthodontist, Mumbai

Braces are given for correcting any malalignment in teeth but for that the bone condition has to be good enough because forces are applied by braces and if the bone is not healthy then the teeth will become mobile. Consult with a periodontist and an orthodontist for your treatment plan.

A good clinical and radio graphic finding will reveal the nessicity for bite correction /rehabilitation at an adult age. A traumatic bite could result in bone loss which is detrimental in the adult age. Cost will vary according to type of braces and duration of treatment. .

Braces are sometimes required to adjust and restore the bite in adults and sometimes as an adjunct for placement of implants.. cost is a subjective thing it can vary from type of braces used, experience of the dentist and duration and complexity of treatment.. It is difficult to suggest any treatment without checking a patient clinically and seeing their xrays..
Next Steps
incase of doubt consult an orthodontist(Braces specialist)..

Having a 'bone-loss' and 'getting braces' are two different aspects. For getting braces, one ought to have a good bone strength, else there is a risk of teeth getting mobile (loose). Certain investigations such as Bone density, serum calcium & Vit-D level, can indicate the ability of the jawbone to be able to bear the load of the braces. Nevertheless, a carefully planned approach for orthodontic treatment (including braces) will help slowing the bone loss as you advance in years.
Next Steps
Consult your orthodontist and orthopedician to discuss the course of action. Get any relevant lab investigations done if advised before taking the decision.
