Muscle tear
My husband got muscle tear near arm pit during weight lifting on 14/8. He is using ice packs and hot bags to cure it but it seems as if the torn muscle is not cured and collected near chest area. Is there any need of surgery? Is surgery necessary?

Consult with an orthopaedic surgeon, nobody else can diagnose the problem . Xray and maybe, mri will be required. Fresh injuries are always easy to treat than old healed cases. Pls don't waste time

Generally surgery is not required in such cases, its good to use ice packs for initial 2-3 days and apply some pain killer gel with rest. but if he is able do overhead movements of his shoulder, chances of fracture and dislocations are not there or rare.
Next Steps
go to a physiotherapist and take the treatment. Ultrasonic therapy helps in healing of muscle stretched or inflamed, heat therapy increases blood circulation and TENS helps in relieving pain,Exercises will increase the muscle strength.Do it for at least 2-3 weeks. You will get the relief for sure.......In chronic cases ,if not responding(no relief at all) after taking physiotherapy, need to go to an orthopedecian.
Health Tips
No weight lifting, no cold exposure, dont overstretch and delay to go to a physio....take care.

Hello there....well in such a scenario...there is possibility of 3 things...1)shoulder jt partial displacement. 2) shoulder jt tendon swelling. 3) muscle tear due to undue stress. Sometimes even combination of 2 things can occour.....hence it becomes very important that you take Xray of your husbands shoulder just to be sure also a vist to orthopadecian/musculoskeletal physio is recommended. Regards & take care.

Greetings. Sorry about your husband's discomfort. It is not clear how you concluded it is a muscle tear.  If there us any discolouration at the injured area or any structural changes like depression or unevenness compared to other side, then getting medical assistance is a wise choice.  Either get an orthopaedic or physio consultation. If nothing as mentioned as above is seen then ice and rest will help. Also look for a physio near you for rehabilitation of muscles. If any concerns do let me know. Wishing  a quick recovery.

Your husband should go for ultrasound therapy over the affected area in a near by Physiotherapy center. It would help him a lot by decreasing pain and giving proper rest to the affected area would help the muscle to heal. If it doesn't resolve within 15-20 days then he should consult an orthopaedic surgeon and get an MRI done of the affected area.

You need to do only iceing. No need of hot pack if it is tear. Keep this in mind only ice apply will not complet your treatment. Recovery depends on severity of injury. To confirm that diagnotic procedure like x ray or mri only by after examination by docter or physiotherapist.

Usually surgery is not indicated, ICE Pack use initially at time of injury is recommended post that a little strengthening exercises and hot pack and functional training is needed. If there is no stretching then the muscle tissue will shorten and end up in affecting the functional capabilities of your husband.
Next Steps
consult Occupational / Physio Therapist so that a bit of stretching, strengthening, and functional Training can be given so that the prognosis is good
Health Tips
Don't Delay, as it may result in a damage which for surely indicate surgery, STAY HEALTHY

It can be tearing of adipose tissue or fat layer tear that might be causing pain going through ur husband condition. It may take more than 3 week to cure by itself.  U r taking right curative treatment by icing ad hot water.   If not treated in expected time consult orthopaedic and get m.r.i done. And keep part effected to totally rest . Collection of muscle you fell are due to inactivity of the muscle it will resolve as u do the muscle activity.
