Muscle soreness

I have severe muscle soreness on my neck(the area joining the neck and the shoulder, say - end of the bottom neck ). I have had lots of physiotherapies, ultrasound and IFT, almost for 5 Months continuesly. But the pain does not reduce. And the pain increases if I strech or exercise. I have been exercising and stretching for almost 2 years but the pain does not reduce. The pain area bulges sometimes, but the doctors say, it is common as my muscles are stiff. Also I get numbness in my hand when I exercise. I have met an orthopaedician, neurologist, rheumatologist, but my pain and bulge has not reduce May I know what could this be? Can I go to gym and strengthen my muscles?

Neck and shoulder pain associated with numbness of hands is due to nerve root compression in cervical spine.. many causes for neckpain like poor posture, trauma, degenerative diseases( cervical spondylosis, cervical disc prolapse), tumors, muscle strain, joint and bone abnormalities. Please get mri done soon. Do regular neck and shoulder exercises, don't use pillow while sleeping or use soft pillow. Keep changing postures often. Don't lift any heavy objects over head, neck or shoulder as that wil put more pressure over your neck muscles and increase your pain. Hot fomentation, gels with diclofenac for local application and tablet aceclofenac 100mg twice daily. Hope this helps you. Please visit neurosurgeon/spine surgeon once.
