I have been experiencing frequent pains and possibly residual pain of such severe muscle pain for the past month.
This pain is limited to the centre of my chest, radiates to the back of my shoulder and I feel a weird tightness that comes and goes in my IMF region.
This is accompanied by flashes of acidity that has had me scared to eat properly. I have been avoiding any triggers like caffeine etc and have been trying to cut down on smoking as well.
I have made the lifestyle changes, gotten check ups done to rule out any cardiovascular issues. Tried Pan-top and I still have the pain that comes and goes.
I am assuming this pain is due to anxiety and not a heart related symptom and I am not sure of how to tackle it anymore.
Any suggestions would work.

Hello, you might be suffering these symptoms due to 2 reasons.
1. Even after lifestyle changes, it takes your body around 3 months to recover to the optimum level.
2. You might be going through these things due to entirely different reasons such as personal or professional reasons.
Health Tips
You can contact a Psychologist/ Counselor for further assistance. I believe you find it helpful.
As per my opinion, you should consult a Psychiatrist for further detailed evaluation such as sleep pattern, job shift, stressors if any, personality assessment, mood symptoms.
You should plan a visit with your all medical records as investigations, report to rule out physical causes
Weight, ht, BMI assessment also needed
You will be alright once proper assessment and advice followed
Hello,
Since cardiovascular causes have been ruled out, the symptoms could be multifactorial- partly from musculoskeletal strain, acid reflux, and possibly anxiety. Anxiety can amplify the perception of chest discomfort, especially when there’s ongoing fear of a serious cause. Persistent acid reflux can also mimic chest pain and cause a tight sensation radiating to the back or shoulder.
Next Steps
1. Continue avoiding known triggers (caffeine, smoking, late heavy meals).
2. Ensure good posture and avoid prolonged chest/shoulder strain.
3. Consider a trial of regular antacid/acid suppression as per doctor’s advice for at least 2–4 weeks.
4. Engage in relaxation techniques like diaphragmatic breathing, mindfulness, or guided meditation daily.
If symptoms persist or worsen, revisit your physician to consider gastrointestinal evaluation (e.g., endoscopy) or anxiety-focused therapy (like CBT).
Health Tips
1. If you ever experience sudden, severe chest pain with sweating, breathlessness, or fainting, seek emergency care immediately.
2. Don’t dismiss recurring symptoms entirely as anxiety without periodic medical review.

Hi
Since heart issues are ruled out, this pain could be anxiety or acidity-related muscle tension.
Focus on paced breathing, gentle shoulder/back stretches, small regular meals, and avoiding lying down after eating.
Therapy can help break the symptom–anxiety loop.

Hello ma'am
With above mentioned symptoms, what you are thinking is correct
This most probably looks like anxiety and related illness
Good thing is it can be treated completely but needs some time
It requires counselling/therapy and if needed medicines (just for a short duration of time with only minimum side effects for 3-4 days of starting medicines only)
