Hello. Based on the information you've provided, your wife does seem to be having depressive symptoms, though a proper evaluation will be needed to ascertain the root cause and diagnosis. At times, certain physical factors such as depressed thyroid status can result in depressive symptoms. At other times, symptoms such as hypersensitivity to criticism, constant mood swings etc. can be a part of a person's personality esp. in borderline personality. I would suggest that you visit a psychiatrist for detailed evaluation, diagnosis and proper management along biopsychosocial lines. Take care.
