Mental Health

My father is a retired banker. He took early retirement and has not been employed since about 5 years. Since the past few years, his mental health has been deteriorating. He has started lying about doing work. He says that he did some work, but in the end more often than not, it turns out that he didn't do it. He doesn't get out of the house and spends the entire day doing almost zero activities. Can someone ease suggest any medical expertise about how to counter this? Thanks.

Hello there.

I can understand your concern.
The easiest way to handle this is to talk to him.
Talk to him  and find out what is going on in his head.
What he feels like and things like that. At this age, he just might be needing someone to talk to and spend the time.
And may be you are not treating him well in that department.
Best regards.
Dr. Anil kumar jain.
Bangalore.
