I'm writing for my friend. I knew her to be funny and easy going and above all very strong emotionally. For the past 2 months , she has been awfully quiet, is locked up in her house for days and is not happy with anything. She has been through a lot in regard to her family and relationship and she is experiencing no sleep, lethargy, thoughts to not wanting to get up and above all extremely defeated. She has not been communicating at all and then there are days she is very happy. Its extremes. can you tell us what action to take further?

Hey, Your friend seems like a great person. As you have mentioned her usual personality is fun loving and easy going however she has gone through a lot keeping everything inside and at present is overwhelmed by the intensity of thoughts and emotions. There seems to be extreme oscillations in her mood as well. Please consult a psychiatrist or psychologist so that he/she can evaluate the situation in detail and either opt for medication combined with counselling or counseling alone. She should be coping with situation and managing her life better in no time. Good Luck.
