Lots of people walk through life trying to hide their depression. Some people with hidden depression can conceal their depression like pros, masking their symptoms and putting on a “happy face” for most others. People with concealed depression or hidden depression often don’t want to acknowledge the severity of their depressive feelings. They believe that if they just continue living their life, the depression will just go away on its own. In a few cases, this may work. But for most folks, it just drags out the feelings of sadness and loneliness. Dealing with the black dog of depression through concealing one’s true feelings is the way many of us were brought up — we don’t talk about our feelings and we don’t burden others with our troubles. Some depression doesn’t even look like depression, depending upon a person’s emotional regulation abilities and whether they tend to ruminate more than most people. Increased anger and irritability — where a person appears to be angry and irritable at nearly everyone, all of the time — may be a sign of hidden depression.

Hello practo user I can understand the difficult situation that you have been facing in your life . It seems that there is some negative past stressful event which is unresolved and contributing to these distressing symptoms. You can try and practice yoga or go for regular walks to activate your brain and feel a little better . Practice counting backwards from 100-1 when going through an emotional outburst as this delaying technique will help calm your mood before you communicate. Try and spend some quality time with your close friends and family members to distract yourself and keep you engaged as well. It is advisable that you seek help from a clinical psychologist for a further evaluation of your symptoms so that a personalized treatment plan can be formulated through regular psychotherapy sessions . You can also reach out to me through the practo app for any further help or guidance.
