Medical advise at Fever 103
My daughter had 101 fever in the evening and has 103 fever at 2 in the morning. I gave crocin to her at both times. Should I be doing anything if the fever is subsiding after taking crocin? Also if the fever doesnt go down after taking a dose of crocin, ahould one wait for another 6 hours to give crocin again? When should I seek medical advise?

For how many days ur daughter is having fever. If your daughter becomes active once the fever subsides then no need to worry, U can wait & watch . The fever usually takes 3-5 days to subside. Look for danger signs like poor urination, continuous high grade fever, lethargic etc

Dear Parent,  A fever of 103°F in a 1-year-old child requires careful attention. Here’s what you need to know:  Immediate Actions:  1. Continue Crocin (Paracetamol):**     - Dose: 15 mg/kg every 4-6 hours (max 4 doses in 24 hours).     - If fever doesn’t subside within 1 hour of a dose, you may give **alternate fever medication** (like ibuprofen, if age-appropriate) after consulting a doctor.  2. Monitor Symptoms:*    - Keep the child hydrated (breast milk/formula/ORS).     - Use lukewarm sponging if fever remains >102°F despite medication.     - Watch for **red flags**: lethargy, rash, difficulty breathing, seizures, or refusal to feed.  When to Seek Medical Advice Immediately:  - Fever >102°F persists beyond **48 hours**.  - Fever returns after 24 hours of being normal.  - Child appears irritable, unusually sleepy, or has a stiff neck.  - Any signs of dehydration (dry mouth, no tears, sunken eyes).  Next Steps:  - Consult a pediatrician today if fever persists or if the child seems unwell. Tests like CBC or urine culture may be needed.  - Avoid delaying care if the child is under 3 months old (fever in newborns is an emergency).  For urgent guidance, you can reach me on WhatsApp at **Eight Zero Zero Nine Eight Two One Three Three Two**.

Next Steps

As such Crocin can be repeated after 4 hours as well, but use it only in fever of 100 or plus. try doing tepid sponging , before adding on Crocin

Please consult a Paediatrician in your area for a physical examination and further management. Tele-consultation is not the best form of consultation for a one year old child.
