Low EQ & mental health
I'm going through a very difficult phase currently. I'm a student at the last stage of my professional studies. I don't wish to continue on the carrier option I'd chosen 4yrs back. I've been a sincere and ideal achiever all my life. So when I'm in this dilemma I feel deeply dejected and everyday is just a battle where I remind myself of all the time and energy I've already put in. I keep thinking about my parents reaction and the society's perception at large. It's all performance pressure, I know but I'm slowly losing myself. Also even with the utmost difficulties if I quit now, I don't really have anything else that I know I want to do. I don't have a passion. I did 10things 4 years back before I left everything for the higher studies. I feel like a loser. Please help..

It is the last phase of your professional studies where you really begin to see your future more clearly and it is possible that you may not feel like going ahead with it. Firstly, ask yourself what could be the reason of this change of heart? Is it that you are disillusioned with the profession/you beleive you may not be successful/ you find other careers more lucrative/ your interests have changed? Whatever the reason is, it will help if you communicate this openly to your parents (after all their opinion matters more than the rest of the society!). If you feel down and dejected all the time it may also help to seek counseling and get evaluated. Depression may lead to negative thoughts about future, self and the world. All said and done, it is your future and if you do not see yourself happy in your present field, you may reconsider it. You may seek help of a career counselor for other options. All the best.
