Low BP after BP Med
Hi, A cardiologist had suggested Metosartan 50 for my mother to treat high BP. But after a month's usage we observed Systolic pressure was mostly coming in the range of 78-100 and diastolic pressure 60-75. So we switched to Metosartan 25. Now there is no change in Systolic range but diastolic pressure seems to be going below 60 like 52,55 etc. Is this ok or we should switch back to Metosartan 50.   Also before starting the BP meds my mother used to have normal readings at home but high BP readings around 160/100 when visited to the hospital. We will meet the cardiologist soon but wanted to get some quick advice. Thanks

Google white collar hypertension. Patients get high BP only when visiting the doctor. In any case, it's best if you go for a second opinion to verify the BP readings.

Hello, your mother might be having white coat hypertension. If you want to know exact trend of her blood pressure throughout the day, I suggest you do her ABPM (Ambulatory BP monitoring) test and consult.
