Losing too much weight in Diabetes
Sir, I have diabetes from the last 7-8 Years. From the last 2-3 Years I have been losing weight. Initially, I thought that this is good for my health, but now I have lost to much weight and feel weak now. I try to eat as much i can, but I don't feel hunger. Please advise how can i increase my weight in diabetes.

Hi, You can opt from all the variety of pulses, eggs, white meat I.e. chicken and fish for proteins prepared in less oil with healthy way of cooking methods or any type of healthy preparation like sprouts, steamed or cooked on liw heat with lid. cover. For carbohydrates you can select any of grains in combination in a healthy way of preparation. Select all the seasonal vegetables and fruits of variety around 4 to 5 servings. Atleast 500 ml of low fat milk or its products must be included in your daily intake. Avoid sweets,fried things as Diabetic can eat low fat, highfibre, sugarfee diet and it should be devided into 3 main and 3 small meals with low GI food consisting 25% protein,25% carbohydrate and 50% fruits and vegetables in each meal fruits can be taken just once as pre lunch around 150 gm depend upon sugar level . Keep proper hydration. Avoid readymade foods ,fried foods and refined as well as processed products.

Avoid junk foods,add extra calories to your diet,have 4 to 5 meals rather than large 3...add protein rich foods and healthy fats to diet for e.g..egg white...add fibre rich foods like green leafy veggies,carrots, etc. Add green tea to your diet .you have to eat more foods high in amino acids,calcium, zinc, iron, copper and magnesium...do regular exercise without failure......consult dietitian for further details
