It depends whether you are talking about disease, disorder, illness and only being positive and coping with situations. So it depends what are you trying to heal ( psychiatric illness or simply negativity). Our thoughts does shape our perception, feelings and  action. We have several apps in our mobile but do we really use all the apps. Even if an individual has so many thoughts, a discipline efforts and regular action is require to turn a tiny seeds of creative thoughts into so called reality. Mental health problems, stress and minor mental illnesses can heal if individual make efforts. But i doubt if someone can overcome their anxiety, depression and psychosis simply by being strong. People need mental health professionals not only for treating disorders but also for counseling. There is a general perception that counseling is only for people suffering with psychiatric disorders. I feel people are more receptive to counseling when they are okay and can take decision on their own. I usually tell all the family members that counseling starts when psychiatric symptoms subsides significantly.
