Knee pain isn't surprising for a person who had to stand for long hours as in a place lie kitchen. Put a small stool in the kitchen which you can use to take small breaks as short as 25 seconds or more.  If the stool is made of plastic then it is more practical to take short breaks as you can pull it with your leg when needed and push it away. Upper arm strain and stiffness needs a physiotherapist's intervention.

Get your vitamin D and vitamin B12 evaluated.... Do some walk or any such activity you enjoy.... Perform certain knee exercises which can be prescribed by a physio after evaluating.... Avoid long duration of standing.... Put ankle on a pillow while sleeping... Upper arm needs to be evaluated before I am able to suggest something....

I agree with dr Thomas and dr Sonia that strain can cause a lot of pain and resting will help relieve the pain associated with pain. However in a young lady, these kinds of severe pain which is associated with swelling and stiffness and occurring not only in the lower limbs but also in the upper limb could point to the possibility of rheumatoid arthritis as a cause of your pains. Rheumatoid arthritis is a medical condition which can cause pain and swelling in all joints along with stiffness especially in the morning. In case this description fits your symptoms then you need to be evaluated immediately by a rheumatologist and they will be able to assess if you have rheumatoid arthritis and refer you to a physiotherapist in case you do not. Hope this helps.  (Dr Sharath @www.rheumatologybangalore.com)
