As per your description most likely acute on chronic osteoarthritis  but  need to examine the patient is there. Please visit an orthopaedic doctor who will provide you various modalities of treatment once a diagnosis is confirmed. We at Delhi Pain Management Centre do manage such pain with non surgical methods. Till you reach doctor take precautions of not sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting. Hot fomentation and local application gel will provide some relief. Take care.
