Is house painting good for 3 months kid
Hi there, We have renovated our house with painting on 15th May 2025 (interior and exterior). I have a 3 months old baby. Currently I am staying at my mom's place. Is it advisable to take my baby to newly painted place? If not when is it advisable?

Yes, usually safe if the following conditions are met: 1. Paint is Fully Dry and Cured: Most paints dry within 24–48 hours, but full curing (off-gassing of fumes) can take up to 7 days. If it’s been more than a week and the area is ventilated, the risk is minimal. 2. No Lingering Paint Smell: If there is no strong odor, it’s a good sign that volatile organic compounds (VOCs) have dissipated. 3. Ventilation Was Adequate: Good airflow during and after painting helps clear fumes faster. If windows and fans were used, exposure risk is much lower. Counseling Statement: “Since painting is already completed, it is generally safe for your 3-month-old as long as the paint is fully dry, there’s no lingering smell, and good ventilation was ensured. If any strong paint smell remains, try to continue ventilating the space and keep the baby in a well-aired room away from the odor.”

Hi . Since it’s been only a few days it’s better to avoid. Also , the duration will depend on the kind of paint base used but overall 2-3 weeks minimum will be considered safe . Even after returning, keep baby’s room well-ventilated, avoid rugs/carpets initially. Ensure there’s no lingering paint odor
Next Steps
Before returning ensure Windows open for several hours daily for at least 10–14 days You can Use exhaust fans or air purifiers (with carbon filters) if possible One trick is placing bowls of vinegar or baking soda in corners to absorb the smell
Health Tips
The smell contains volatile compounds which can irritate baby’s sensitive lungs and skin. It may cause cough, congestion, skin rashes, or eye irritation. Also ,Increases risk of respiratory allergies later. You can see for yourself if No coughing/rashes after short visit
