Irregular periods- PCOD
I am 22 year girl . I have had irregular periods from a long time, since 8yrs now. I have been to various doctors. Nothing seemed to work apart from ayurvedic treatment. But since the doctor changed, i couldn't continue with the treatment. Coming to my problem, i been diagnosed with pcod for 6 years. Due to this, I have periods very irregularly ie it can come once in 3 months or 6 months or even less than a month. It's been hard to predict when it might come. And recently, once I have the periods, it's very hard to stop it. The period flow starts from a very minimal flow for one month, little darker flow for half a month and then heavy flow until i have to stop externally. I have been given an aurvedic powder to stop the flow. So whenever I have to stop it, I take that Medicine. Can you please suggest me with any suitable medication that will cure my problem in the long run? Also suggest me with the diet I can follow to regularising my periods. Thank you.

Your case is very common now days. More than 10 million cases diagnosed every year in India alone. There are some basic causes behind PCOS. 1. Change in Gonadotropic Hormones. 2. Insulin resistance. It shows multiple symptoms like Facial hair growth, Obesity, Irritability disturbed Menstrual cycle and many other. Also it increases risk of diabetes and cardiac diseases. Available treatments in modern science are 1. 21 days of course of medicine (which is actually oral contraceptive pills and can cause Infertility, hence not advisable before first pregnancy) 2. Ovarian drilling. Unfortunately this causes harm to ovaries and recurrence is very common as it do not cure the pathology. I would like to recommend you Ayurvedic treatment along with Panchakarma. Around 76.34% (at actual) patients of PCOS get rid of it within 21 days of Panchakarma and 3 - 4 months of internal Ayurveda treatment. Remaining cases need more time, specifically those who are obese and have weight more than 65 kg. Panchakarma treatment should be carried out as follows.. 1. Basti 21 days 2. Uttar basti 5 days (3 cycles) 3. Udar lepam 4. Shirodhara and Jalaukavacharan as per requirement. Selection of Medicines for above treatment is very important and finalized after actual check up of patient. Here results depend on smart selection of Medicines used in Panchkarma. The process of Panchakarma may be same every where but every doctor use different medications for it. Always remember... Ovary contains multiple cysts inside it and blood flow is to the ovary not inside the ovary. Hence treatment takes bit more time and strongly needs Panchakarma treatment, as medicines are carried to targeted organ through blood only.
Next Steps
Continue proper and ideal Ayurveda treatment
