Hello Sir. I can completely understand your problem. Internet addiction is a very common finding seen nowadays especially in teenagers. Sometimes the internet can draw you in so deep that you tend to spend a lot of time behind it. Cutting back on your online time can be very difficult. Internet Addiction Disorderâ (IAD) is currently a commonly used term to define excessive and problematic usage of the Internet. However, the fact that you have recognized the need to do so is definitely appreciated. Here are some tips for you:
1. Goal setting - Set your goals for limiting internet usage (eg: only one hour a day; preferably not before going to bed)
2. Away Time - Designate a fixed time away from the computer each day. Pick a specific timeframe where you will not use your laptop. Try to engage in activities that you enjoy. eg long walk, cooking, reading, etc.
3. Breaks - Schedule breaks from continuous computer usage. Probably that is the reason why you are experiencing headaches. This can also help you spend time away from your computer. Call al friend, go for a short walk, dont get back to twitter or facebook in these breaks.
4. Personal inventory - Make a list of what all things you are missing for the time you spend on internet. Try to engage back in these activities.
5. Meet a Psychiatrist or Psychologist - Discuss about any other underlying issues you may be having psychologically which might need resolution. Internet addiction may be a sign of loneliness and boredom often accompanying disorders like depression and anxiety.
