If you get period you are not pregnant?

I just want to confirm that I m pregnant or not. I have done home kit test and it shows negative. I have got my period now but it got delayed by 15-20 days.so I just need proper confirmation since me and my husband have not used protection I m just scared of it and want a proper result.
