I've severe viral conjunctivitis
One eye is having it for a week and is completely swollen and red with water dripping out of it and in another eye it recently started. Doctor has prescribed me gatiquin p, which I see is for bacterial conjunctivitis but I've viral conjunctivitis. Is it safe to put this eye drop? I'm following this eye drop by tear drops.

this is for viral conjuntivitis  ,but if there is dicharge  and stickiness of eyes  it means  a mixed infection  . the bacterial infection will flare up with  steroids. if there is pure viral infection then this drop is ok otherwise  for a couple of days you must use plain antibiotic eye drops 2hourly e.g. moxifloxacin.
Next Steps
wash your eyes frequently with fresh and clean water. do cold compresses. and keep your  belongings e.g. pillow, towel and hanky  etc separate. don't shake hands with  anybody bcoz you may transfer  the infection. wash your  hands. whenever you touch your eyes.

It's fine, Viral conjunctivitis often needs treatment with antibiotic and steroid combination like gatiquin p.  Just follow the advice of your ophthalmologist.
