I completely understand your fear — it’s normal to feel scared when thinking about surgery, especially for something as sensitive as congenital penile curvature (CPC).
Let me explain step-by-step to help you feel more clear and less overwhelmed:
1. About Your Condition:
Congenital penile curvature usually happens because one side of the penis grows longer than the other.
If it’s significant enough (generally more than 30 degrees), it can cause difficulty during intercourse, emotional distress, and even pain during erection sometimes.
Mild curvatures (under ~20–30°) might not need surgery if function and confidence are okay.
2. Is Surgery the Only Option?
If the curvature is affecting your function, confidence, or future relationships, surgery is the most effective solution.
There are no reliable non-surgical treatments (no medicines, no physiotherapy) that can straighten a congenital curve meaningfully.
3. What Kind of Surgery? (and about side effects):
There are mainly two types:
Plication
Plaque incision and grafting
4. Pain and Recovery:
Nowadays, surgeries are done under good anesthesia (you won’t feel anything during surgery).
Post-operative pain is usually mild to moderate, managed easily with painkillers.
Most patients go home the same day or next day.
Resumption of daily work: ~1 week; Sexual activity: ~6–8 weeks after surgery.
5. Fear of Side Effects:
Modern techniques are very safe when done by an experienced urologist/andrologist.
Serious problems like complete loss of erection are rare (<5–10% in grafting type; almost unheard of in plication surgeries).
Most men are satisfied after surgery and wish they had done it earlier once they recover.
6. Important for You:
Choose a good and experienced urologist/andrologist.
Ask for a pre-surgical detailed discussion about:
Type of surgery
Risk of penile shortening
Risk of erection problems (and how rare it is)
Mental counseling before surgery can help ease anxiety (some centers offer it).

Hi, I understand your concern regarding the penile curvature. It’s important to know that this is a treatable condition. If the curvature is causing functional or psychological distress, surgical correction is a safe and effective option with excellent outcomes. However, a proper in-person examination is essential to assess the severity and determine the best course of management.
