Hi Mam , ortho correction would be a ideal choice , single tooth correction may not take year time , if your canine is much palatal from the visible side of your upper teeth ? consult a orthodontist , tel your requirement, ask for his opinion and go for Ortho treatment or extraction . Extent of canine in palatal area?? If it is mild to moderate then othodontic treatment is a good choice and if it is severe placed or inside the bone its removal would be a good and economical choice. Though check up and diagnostic xrays are must.
Next Steps
Uplpae clinical photographs and opg xray.

Canine tooth in palate will not be a problem, it can remain there. If u have issues with appearance of front teeth, it can be made perfect by veneers. It will take a week for complete treatment.

Orthodontic correction is treatment of choice in your case. If you want long term good results then you should give time and should not hurry. 1 or 2 year should not make difference when you want permanent solution to problem.
