Hypothyroidism is known to cause weight gain but one can not blame just hypothyroidism for weight gain. The various reasons for gain in hypothyroidism are 1. Inadequate dose 2. Consumption of tea , milk, coffee, honey or other food products immediately after taking thyroid tablet.one should keep minimum one to two hour gap before consuming anything. It decreases the absorption of thyroid tablet. 3. Hypothyroidism is known to cause lethargy and depression, as a result physical activity and exercises are avoided. Make sure you exercise on regular basis. 4. In hypothyroidism BMR of the body decreases as a result a small portion of high caloric food also leads to weight gain. 5. For weight loss not only dinner but all meals have to be modified accordingly. So take proper dose on empty stomach and maintain gap of two hours before consuming any beverage or foods product. Take proper guidance for diet and exercise.
