Hot milk causes scald injuries but not burns . Since u have not mentioned the percentage and extent of the injuries
Here are the bassic things you need to do:
Inmediately run the area of the scald under luke warm tap water from 15 to 25°c
Increase the room temperature to that much higher than the body temerature of the toddler bcz the scald injuries causes heat loss
3ml/kg fluids should be consumed but not plain water preferably ORS but ringer lactate is the most ideal but this is generally given in hospital setting through an iv cannula if toddler accepts anything orally
Provide analgesia to the toddler to reduce pain preferably paracetamol syrup 2ml immediately
Tetanus (TT) ijection is a must .
You need to monitor if the child is passing urine well or not
Next Steps
immediately go to the hospital emergency department
if burns are severe then the following investigations need to be done asap
CBC
clotting studies
electrolytes
RFT
LFTalbumin
cross matched blood products should be kept ready
Creatine kinase if deep tissue burns are present
Health Tips
just be extra careful with kids unlike adults kids dont tolerate burn injuries that well .
thank you
