Hernia treatment is only Surgical. Timing is relevant to site and symptoms. An umbilical Hernia usually resolves by the time your child is standing and walking. Surgery is indicated only for emergency problems or rarely cosmetic. Pls see a Pediatric-surgeon for details and lime of management. No medical treatment is possible.

What you described is umbilical hernia. There is no medical treatment for this. Surgery is safe. You just have to check the surgeons past record. It is a minor surgery and the child will be perfectly normal after that.

Most small umbilical hernias will regress or reduce in size as the abdomen wall muscles develop. Treatment with surgery is not recommended, except for cosmetic reasons, or if the swelling enlarges . You can wait and watch , but do show the condition to your regular Pediatrician.
