After my first breast biopsy I was told my Her 2 status was negative. However, after mastectomy I was told by pathology that my Her 2 was positive and I need to go on Taxol and herceptin. I was told this is rare but can happen. Doctors insist its true. Is this possible? Can I skip Taxol?

Breast cancer is one of common disease seen in women.Her2 positive breast cancer has bad prognosis despite surgery and adequate chemotherapy (including taxanes).Trastuzumab or similar drugs of one year duration are effective to negate bad prognosis to extent.these drugs are more effective with chemotherapy than alone so combination has best benefit.
Next Steps
discuss with treating oncologist about pro and cons of this therapy to your situation.
Health Tips
