Hair loss can be because of multiple reasons. B complex vitamin deficiency and Vitamin D deficiency should be ruled out. Post menopausal status can be another reason. Thyroid issues can also cause hair loss.
Next Steps
Routine Health Check should be done.

Hello, I understand your concern, and it’s completely natural for your mother to feel worried seeing excessive hair fall. Hair loss at her age can be due to nutritional deficiencies, hormonal changes (especially post-menopause), thyroid imbalance, stress, scalp infections, or even certain medications. Common Causes in Women Above 50: Low iron, Vitamin D, B12, protein deficiency Thyroid issues Hormonal decline after menopause Poor scalp blood circulation Age-related weakening of hair roots What You Should Start Immediately: 1. Diet & Supplements: Include protein-rich foods: dal, paneer, eggs, sprouts. Take supplements like Biotin, Calcium + Vitamin D3, Omega-3 (after medical guidance). 2. Scalp Care: Use gentle, chemical-free shampoo twice a week. Apply warm coconut oil mixed with onion juice or rosemary oil to improve circulation. 3. Medical Treatment (Highly Effective): Topical minoxidil solution Peptide serums Oral nutritional therapy These can stop hair fall and promote new growth, but require proper medical evaluation before starting. Important: If hair fall is more than 100 strands per day or scalp is visible, a detailed investigation is necessary to prevent permanent thinning. I can help you with a personalized treatment plan based on her exact condition and reports. Most probably it is because of hormonal issue. She would have hit menopause so hormones level fall down. It can also be some nutritional deficiencies.
Next Steps
Do share her detailed history and let's catch the problem in time before it may progress to something else
