I am having loose motions from yesterday night with stomach pain in continuity. It's maybe due to food contamination which is my guess. I had Flyagyl 200 tablet once today evening. But still no good signs of improvement. Having weakness since then. Also feeling like not to eat anything.

It's due to a gastroenteritis either bacterial or viral.A single dose of flagyl is certainly not helpful,. However if you continue to experience diarrhea and abdominal pain,do visit a physician in your area for appropriate treatment

Hello. From your description, this appears to be an acute stomach infection, which is quite common and usually improves within a few days with proper care.
Since you are having loose motions with stomach pain and weakness, the most important step right now is to prevent dehydration.
Next Steps
Please follow these steps: • Start ORS solution — small frequent sips throughout the day
• Eat light food like rice, curd, banana, khichdi
• Avoid oily, spicy or outside food
• Avoid taking antibiotics without proper evaluation
Health Tips
One dose of Flygyl may not be necessary in most simple stomach infections, and symptoms may take 24–48 hours to settle.
If loose motions are more than 5–6 times/day, severe abdominal pain, vomiting, fever, or signs of dehydration occur, you should get evaluated.
I can guide you properly with medicines and exact dosage after a brief consultation. Feel free to connect.
Take care and stay hydrated.
Need a proper consultation but flagyl one dose is not enough have to use thrice a day for atleast 3 days you may also need additional medicines based on proper history
Acute loose motions with abdominal pain most likely indicate infective gastroenteritis, commonly viral or food-borne. One dose of metronidazole is insufficient and usually unnecessary unless bacterial cause is proven. Focus on oral rehydration, light diet, probiotics, and antispasmodic if needed.
Seek medical care and consult me urgently if fever, blood in stool, persistent vomiting, or dehydration develops.
Take plenty of fluids, avoid spicy and oily food...if passing too much watery stools take ORS immediately.. continue to take plenty of water.
Take tab loperamide 2 times for 5 days
It looks like a stomach infection or food poisoning. Drink plenty of fluids and ORS, eat light food like rice, curd, banana, and take rest. Avoid oily and spicy food.

Dear Patient,
Your symptoms of loose motions since last night with abdominal pain and weakness are most likely due to acute gastroenteritis (food contamination / infection). This is common and usually improves within 1–3 days.
Taking one dose of Flagyl (metronidazole) may not give immediate relief, and antibiotics are often not required initially unless symptoms are severe or prolonged.
What you should do:
✔ Drink plenty of fluids — ORS, coconut water, lemon water, soups (most important)
✔ Take ORS after each loose stool to prevent dehydration
✔ Eat light food — rice, curd, banana, khichdi, toast (avoid oily/spicy food)
✔ Probiotic capsules/sachets may help recovery
✔ You may take an antispasmodic (for pain) and zinc supplement if available
When to take medicines:
- If stools are very frequent (>5–6/day), loperamide can be used short-term (if no fever or blood in stool).
- Antibiotics may be needed only if fever, blood in stool, or symptoms persist >2–3 days.
Seek medical care urgently if:
- Signs of dehydration (very little urine, dizziness)
- High fever
- Blood in stool
- Persistent vomiting
- Symptoms lasting more than 3 days
Weakness and poor appetite are common during infection and improve once hydration is corrected.
