Genetic Diabetes
I have heard many times that, if one of the parent has diabetes, it can transfer to child. But what if someone gets diabetes after marriage and when kid is 10 years old. How can it transfer then? Currently I am 18 and my father got diabetes 8 years back. So how can I get it? Moreover what are the preventions I can take to make it 100% avoidable? Is it possible that even my one parent's got diabetes and I don't?

There is 30 to 50% chance of getting diabetes in child if 1 parent has diabetes. If both parents are diabetic then it's upto 90%.
Faulty Genes play role in hereditary diabetes.
Yes you can still get diabetes even when your parent got diabetes 8 yrs back when you were 10yr old.
Staying lean with healthy diet and regular exercise can delay it. Overweight individuals with family history get diabetes in early age.
