I have been suffering from gastritis since 4 years. Symptoms are cold feeling in upper abdomen when I drink fluids, pain similar to putting a tight rubber band around the chest. I'm worried there could be a h pylori infection. Question:
1) Since it's a long standing issue, is there a possibility that the pylori(if present) has damaged the mucos membrane of the stomach. If yes, is it reversible?
2) What are the tests available for detecting if I have an active pylori infection?
3) Is there a possibility that it can lead to a precancerous stage in case the h pylori is not eradicated?
Thanks in advance for the answers.
