Meal Pattern: Offer 3 main meals + 2 healthy snacks per day. Continue breastfeeding or 2 cups (400–500 ml) of milk daily
Food Quantity Average total: 1½–2 cups of food per main meal(Each cup ≈ 120–150 ml)
Example per meal:
Half to 1 cup cooked rice/khichdi/upma +
½ cup vegetables/dal/curd
Small portion of fruit
Child’s appetite varies daily — follow hunger cues. Force-feeding isn’t needed.
Balanced Diet: Include all groups daily:
Cereals: rice, chapati, oats, porridge
Pulses & proteins: dal, egg, fish, chicken, paneer, beans
Fruits & vegetables: colourful mix for vitamins
Fats: ghee, oil, nuts (paste/powder form)
Water Intake: 1–1.2 litres/day (around 4–5 small glasses) including soups, milk, fruits.
Offer small sips frequently — toddlers often forget to ask for water.
