Feeding intervals
My wife and I have just had a baby boy. We were told by the hospital that he needs to feed every two hours and we should wake him up incase that does happen. However, he tends to sleep sometimes for upto 4 hours and it's difficult to wake him up. However, he's peeing upto 6-8 times a day and has good motions. Is it mandatory to wake him up every 2 hours or should it be on demand? Also we had an issue with getting the baby to latch on correctly and had to ultimately resort to pumping some milk and feeding him by spoon. Would it be possible to get a lactation consultant to visit us to understand the technique better?

In initial 2-3 days, after delivery, the amount of breat milk will be less, as the days increased  frequency and amiunt of breast feed increased so in 1 st week preferably breast feed every 2 nd hourly then feeding on demand along with monitoring frequency of urine at least 6 times a day.  Mother needs to learn proper positioning of the baby during feed and burping after feed. If the baby is sucking well preferably do direct breast feed insted of EBM by katori spoon.
