it is quinolinone derivative. is most recent treatment for dry eye.some people  advocate is as 1st  line of drug for dry eye .as it acts by releasing  mucin like  substance which protects  cornea and c onjuntivitiva.it was first  used for gastric ulcer to protect  gastric  mucin  layer. it is not widely  used due to its  irritant  nature. long-term  usage results  are not known. most of us advocate it for severe dry eye. if you have severe dry eye you can try it and give the feedback so that we are more confident. to use or not to use it for others
