If one keeps his HbA1c under 6.5 will there be long term complications of DM. Doctors seem to have different opinions.

Risk of complications will of course be low as HbA1c is kept low. Keeping it as low as possible with minimal risk of hypoglycemia is the ideal goal. Long term outcome definitely good when Hba1c is well controlled.
