Patient's muscular dystrophy leads to sedentary life which might have become a cause for increased sugar levels. Both conditions needs to be treated.   Ayurveda mentions certain Rasayana medicines which can take care if both conditions. Also just one type of food doesn't help. Certain millets are heavy to digest and need to be taken in moderate amount.   Good range of medicines like suvarnakalpas can be useful in his condition after proper consultation from a learned Ayurveda practitioner.
Next Steps
Take proper consultation and start treatment & Panchakarma.
